Found the Spencers in 1901. looks like Thomas has remarried. Look for Catherine Spencer born 1888 in Nottingham, not bulwell! Jenny

Hi Jenny Many thanks again Jenny. I wish I'd come back sooner - I've looked everywhere on 1901 I thought. Off to find them now. Aren't you clever. Where am I going wrong. Yes Suzanne - it's brilliant to see how clever some of the people on here are isn't it. Chrissie x

Merry - in 1904 he was a barman but by 1909 he was a general labourer and worked at the coal mines. Jenny - thank you so much for all your help. I know that the big problem of finding a marriage still exists but at least you have given me something new to go on. I really didn't want to give up, it means SO much to my hubby. Chrissie x

Well, I did everything on FreeBMD: Nottingham (county) Preedy (phonetic search) and looked at them all for a Smith marriage (1901-1905 inc) Eng/Wales wide, same dates, Martha and then Nora(h) Preedy (phonetic again) and looked at them all.....One or two had a Smith on the same page, but it was always another bride!! I think there may be gaps on FreeBMD for 1904 marriages, though........ Merry

I trawled through the beta images from 1901 to 1906. Nothing for Martha Preedy/Preddy. Jenny (still not making tea!)

Thanks very much Merry. I think I have some trawling to do tomorrow. It's great though to be back in the hunt. I have almost given up so many times but I am determined that I won't give up until I have exhausted all possible avenues. I nearly gave up 6 months ago and then suddenly managed to find 2 living sons of John Gilbert (Smith/Spencer/Preedy lol) and one was in Australia. That's how I found out about Nora in Blackpool. I had spent 2 years looking for Jack/John Smith lol:)))) You have both been brilliant - thank you again - you don't know how much I appreciate it. Chrissie x
