Credit should go to the multi-skilled Mr Anthony Carter, who wrote about the man with the big nose......He was a 60-year-old tea dealer and farmer of 5 acres as well as being a relieving officer and census enumerator for Dent, Yorkshire! Busy man! Merry

Makes me start wondering how I should be looking for one of my ancestors who fails to show in the 2 censuses between his marriage and his death (I have his wife and kids!) Now... if I start with the police description of his brother from 1864 - 5ft3in, dark brown hair hair, blue eyes, pock-marked skin, small features (honest!).... Lx PS At 5ft11in I obviously didn't take after this bit of the family!

Unfortunately, I don't think either are... Richard was Devonian and his wife and kids turn up nicely on the censuses (first time with his mother, second time with her parents). It's him! I'll get him soon. I'm enjoying the hunt (with gritted teeth!) Lx
