Tip for finding missing Smiths, Try MITH, there are hundreds of them, Also try reversing names: eg.for John Smith try Smith John etc., |

Just to share ,I have relatives called Belly Elizabeth, and Babeman my mother being informed of this just said well their parents can't have liked them! |

I was looking for Peterson and somebody found the family under the name Mitchsson. They were the family above them on the page. Original census sheet was correct - looks like the transcriber just got carried away lol!! |

I have to thank Merry for finding my Chambers family for me,mistranscribed as Gresham!!!Not even close at all really,but there you go. Now if i can find my elusive Thorbon Elmer and work out why 1 of his sisters married a man in 1880 and down as wife of this man in the 1881 i might be somewhere near toppling my brick wall. Glen |

On Ancestry, have found many many mis-spellings. Most of them mis-interpretations of the original document. One general rule I follow is to put in a name correction every time (as long as I am sure!) |

Yes, I always correct the names if poss. shame you can't do this with place names, occupations and all the other things! |

I reckon I am quite experienced at looking through PRs and finding a name I am looking for without much trouble. But I was mystified as to why I couldnt find my Daniel Green (who had a definite birthdate on the IGI). Looking at the page for the umpteenth time, I finally found him - he looked, (to me anyway) like Daniel GUBBIN! Olde Crone |

Not all of Surrey has moved, but if you need anyone from Woking, you may find like I just have, that it's moved to the Syrian Arab Republic. I don't understand why Harriet Newman is from there in 1861, whereas other Harriets from the same area were born in Surrey. ( Trawling for a Harriet, but still haven't found the one I need) |
