Ok that's better. Thank you very much indeed to you all for your help. I'll try not to be so thick next time!

Please excuse me whilst I beat myself severely about the head.

You're looking under Wood. She died Ada Maud Eccles.

Tee hee. I've started something now haven't I? I'm getting cross with myself now. So you're looking in Jul-Sep 1977? I can see 4 Ada's all born in 18something in Leeds, Sheffield, Chesterfield & Slough.

Janice Report 17 Apr 2006 23:10

Sharon I found it on the beta death indexes on ancestry. Janice

Merry Report 17 Apr 2006 23:09

The word Bradford on the death indexes relates to where she died, not where she was born! Janice, I didn't even notice the Clitheroe birth reg LOL!! I was so busy assuming Sharon might not have considered the following Q, I didn't look in the Sept Q as well!! Shame on me! LOL Merry

Sharon

Sharon Report 17 Apr 2006 23:08

Janice where did you find the death index. I can't find it in ancestry

Janice

Janice Report 17 Apr 2006 23:04

The only other possibility is an Ada Maud in Clitheroe.

Merry

Merry Report 17 Apr 2006 23:00

Don't forget, you have 6 weeks to reg a birth, so this is prob her, in the following Q: Births Dec 1901 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Wood Ada Maud Darlington 10a 13 Merry

Sharon

Sharon Report 17 Apr 2006 23:00

Ooh. That was it. Someone went to Bradford register office to get her certificate but they said she wasn't born there.

Janice

Janice Report 17 Apr 2006 22:59

The date of birth you have is the same as the one in the death indexes - 3rd qtr of 1977 Bradford Janice

Sharon

Sharon Report 17 Apr 2006 22:57

I've just seen one in N.Bierley actually but I think there was some reason we had discounted this one. Can't remember now I'm so confused. Will have to go back and ask some questions I think

Sharon

Sharon Report 17 Apr 2006 22:52

I've actually got her date of birth and middle name - 11/9/1901 and Maud. Also date of death 1977. Got this info from family but not sure if they're accurate 'cos someone else has been doing research and I think some of the info has come from assumptions.

If you get the marriage certificate, it should give you an idea of how old she was and therefore when she was born (that's if she didn't lie about her age, as most of my lot did!!). Kath. x

Janice

Janice Report 17 Apr 2006 22:47

What does the M stand for and how old was she when she got married?

Sharon

Sharon Report 17 Apr 2006 22:44

I can't believe how quick you lot are. Thank you so much. That's who I was expecting it to be but was kind of hoping it wouldn't be as I've been unable to find her birth so I thought if another name came up that would solve the mystery. Hey ho. xxx

when you search ancestry for wood marriages in that quarter it starts with (Catherine Wood) if you go to previous page it ends with (Annie wolfendon) so their are pages missing, i would look for those pages on 1837 online Roy

Is the bride's name before Catherine alphabetically? The page is missing. Janice
