I am so glad to see somebody who is trying to do their tree properly by checking the information! So many people on here want to find everything on the census straight away and can't be bothered to get any certificates to check they are right! This is the reference data for your great-grandparents' marriage, from a site called FreeBMD at http://freebmd.rootsweb*com/ (replace * with .) Marriages Jun 1912 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Arnold Annie B Sanderson Whitby 9d 1024 Sanderson Ernest Arnold Whitby 9d 1024 You can now order their marriage certificate and that will tell you the name and occupation of Ernest's father, which should help you to decide whether you have the right family on the census or not. (Also it will give you the details of Annie's father, plus Annie and Ernest's ages when they got married and the names of their witnesses.) Kate. |

I feel so guilty asking other people to look because i know how time consuming it can be. All I know is My Great Grandad was calle Ernest Sanderson married a Annie Arnold. We pressume this was in Whitby North Yorkshire. My Grandad was born in 1914 his mother Annie around 1891 his Dad Ernest still unsure. We found a family on the 1901 cencus he was said to be 15. But like i said my Dad isn't convinced i have the right family for Ernest |

Tell us who, when and where he married and his name! Do you have the marriage certificate (and does your dad agree it's the right one?!). If you do, then what are the full details from the cert? Merry |

Right, you are working backwards from your dad - so you def. know who your grandparents were, yes? Do you have their marriage certificate? That would give their dads names and occupations (your GGF). You could then tie that in with the census info It would also give an area where they married which may help and also witness signatures which could be further clues. Why dont you give us what info you have and what you want to confirm? |

I know the name of my great Grandad. But i'm having problems confirming my Great Grandad on the Cencus. My Dad isn't convinced i have the right family. I know who he married. Will this help find him to confirm anything? If so wheres the best place to look... I think I'm going mad with all this. |
