Its starting to look very promising! Thank you. No wonder I wouldnt find an Alfred and Richard Cox in the same family - looks like his dad died when he was very young.

I did put up 1881 and then had doubts about it and deleted it, but now I am happy its the right one. I make that 11 children, they were pretty busy!! I think the Ricahrd Cox who died aged 48 is not the right one, our one here seems to be born about 1823 Marilyn

I am just going to assume that the 1901 census record I found has been transcribed wrong I think. Too much of a coincidence that 3 of Marys siblings are listed in the household.
