I am looking for the marriage of: William Franklin 1818 Bristol Sarah Parker 1821 Bristol Their first child William Franklin was born in 1840 and christened on the 23rd Feb 1840 at St Philip and St Jacobs church in Bristol. I am assuming all being as it should that they married before that, but I have scoured Ancestry and cant find it. If anyone can spare the time to have a quick look I would very much appreciate it. i spend so much time on the computer these days i wonder if i have gone goggle eyed and missed it!!!

Was Sarah a Parker before she was married or is it just that she was Mrs Parker?

There's a John and Sarah Parker in 1841 with a 1 year old son William. They are in the St Philip district of Bristol. John is a maltster. Registration district for St Philip would be Clifton?

Karen, it could be an error on the original Census. If you search for William Parker in Glos. 1840 +/-1, there are only two and the one I found is in the exact district you would expect him to be. The other has older siblings and is in Redcliff area of Bristol.

Hi Helen Wow that is interesting, why didn't I think of that!! I have already found a Jane, who is actually James!!! Just need to check that the reg district is Clifton and start my search for marriage there, living in Sussex it is not easy! wish more registers where on line!! Thanks so much for your help karenx

Karen Sorry to get you excited, John and Sarah with son William are in Westbury in 1851 so it couldn't be them. When you search the Census on Ancestry the results show St Philip was Clifton, so that's where the details came from. I wondered if you had only looked under Bristol for the marriage?

Karen I've found the family in 1851 and think I've been searching for the wrong surname. Your first post says William PARKER married Sarah PARKER so I assumed their son was William Franklin PARKER. But 1851 entry shows William Franklin aged 33 boiler maker Sarah Franklin 30 William Franklin 11 Is your original post wrong or does the 1851 have the wrong surname?
