Making some progress on thisa side of the tree. I have John Clark and Mary Ann (m/s unknown) of the death cert of a child Francis Lister who died in Leeds in 1953. I am trying to find birth details for John who was born about 1850. Any help gratefully received! Thanks

Oh! When you said a child who died in 1953, I thought you meant the dead person was of a young age! So....Francis (that's the mans spelling)....Frances (??) Lister died in 1953 (a spinster??) ....and her death cert mentioned her parents names? (unusual for an adult death). How old was Frances when she died? Merry

Ah, I've just noticed you have gone from Frances who died in 1953, to ABOUT 1953!! LOL There are no Frances Lister deaths in 1953. You can search free on Ancestry....... Merry

Has clarified a few things there Merry - didn't know the marriage details. I ahd a few scraps of paper with the details on from when a relative had started this a few years ago, and it said the info had come from a death cert. but no one seems to know where this is! It was John's birth and parents I was specifically after, but any help is good help. Thanks

If you don't specially want a legal marriage cert copy, but want exactly the same info and with original handwriting (and potentially significantly cheaper), have a look at Yorks BMD. The marriage info for Robert & Fanny tells you it was at All Saints Church - so you may be able to get a copy of the relevant Register page: Surname Forename(s) Surname Forename(s) Church / Register Office Registers At Reference Yorkshire Marriage indexes for the years: 1843 LISTER Robert CLARK Frances All Saints, Sculcoates Hull HAS/4/51 [I don't know whether this earlier one is relevant or not: Yorkshire Marriage indexes for the years: 1842 LISTER Robert GIBSON Ann Holy Trinity Hull HD/4/340] likewise: Yorkshire Marriage indexes for the years: 1876 LISTER John C PAWSON Mary A St Peter, Leeds Leeds CE46/87/28 So you might be able to get a copy Register page for that one, too.
