Side, Over Darwen, Blackburn, Lancashire The ancestry transcription’s terrible, so I’ve tidied it up a bit, but the names are hard to read. Not sure of the surname of the Head and his family – possibly Knowles. Off to bed now - if you want the others from 1841, let me know, and I'll post them tomorrow.

Ozibird, This is my husband's line. I have been doing mine for ages and am currently stuck, waiting for certs. I decided I'd pull all this info on his lot out and see what I needed. It's one of those trees that has sat around for years. Actually it is only a pedigree chart, and I thought I'd fill it out a bit. Of course, that necessitated my checking and that's where I am. It is really interesting as I thought the name was always spelt ARIEL. However, I've found they were in Yorkshire in the early 1800s and spelt it ARIELL. Lucretia was a Clark from memory who married an Ariel. I'll have a look. If you check the 1861 census for Lucretia you will find her with the Clark family.

Thanks Mary. Not sure of the time difference. I had to go out for an hour or so. No, you weren't rude. They are impressive, aren't they. Try the Kirkby one. They married that lot as well. Lords and stuff. Still I like my ag labs. Except William Ketley of course. Playing hard to get. I just wish he knew how old he was when he filled out forms.(or told the truth). I'll bet those Ariels could read and write (and spell and add up). Mind you, I haven't found too many Ariles who actually worked. They put things like annuients and dividends in their occupations. And they were only in their 30s. When they got to Australia, they cahnged their occupation to Gentlemen. They were actually slave traders, so that wasn't very nice.

Don't be nasty Mary. Mind you they don't look like they fit. You should take a look at the 1881 for Clarks/Ariels. Must have been a big house to fit that many servants. Wish one would come back to life and do my housework now. Somewhere I found a court report on that Ariel/Clark family and the doctor got fined 5000 pounds for adultery with the wife. Imagine doing that with a solicitor's wife. Bad career move! Thanks.
