Tina, do you have the facility to put the report into an Acrobat file? If so, why not make a few copies on floppies to hand out to anyone interested? Then they could take it home and maybe later send you some new info. Failing that a .rtf file would be second best. But put the hardcopy in your bag as well ! Just a suggestion. Roger Update - just thought - don't forget to include your address on the cd if you want replies!!!

I guess you could stick it to some cardboard and if you are in a marquee, leave it, weather permitting, outside so people can walk out and have a look - perhaps blue tak it to your car?

I attended the funeral of a cousin in January and I had not met any of her children for over 50 years, but I thought that they may be interested in the family tree so I took a copy.......WELL, the wake turned out to be me almost giving a lecture on 'How to search your family tree'. Several wanted site details as they were going to jump on the train, and I got some info I did not have. These occasions are probably the only time you will meet Great Aunt Agatha and Great Uncle Geroge, so go and gleen as much as you can. Remember, when they are gone so is your information source. Like Kath, I only ever meet up with rellies at funerals. I have a huge family photo, all grinning wildly, which I took at my Mother's funeral, grouped around the hearse!!!! OC

Caroline Report 10 Jun 2006 13:41

you could stick all the pages on to a bed sheet or large piece of material, roll it up to put in your car than simply pin it to the marquee with large safety pins and don't worry too much about boring people if you find just one person who takes an interest it will be worth it. Caroline

Good idea, Caroline! And dont worry AT ALL about boring people, you have to do whatever it takes to get the info out of people - they might tell you something just to shut you up. Don't have too much to drink though - how awful if you woke up on Monday and couldnt read your own writing..or you had been sick on the page... OC
