Hi Linda. Unless Helen is a night owl like me, she might not be around the boards for a bit, as it's just past midnight here. :)

There are some truly wonderful people here; they've helped me immensely!!! People post lookups they are willing to do on the Records Office board and you can add your request to their post. Lately, however, I've asked for a few lookups on my own (not adding it to an existing post) because of our time difference. (Being 8 hours behind makes communicating difficult.) Welcome to GR and make yourself at home. :) Once again, people are so generous here.

I haven't really asked for any one to look up anything yet. I don't really know how the flow of help here works yet lol. Do I just ask or what's the polite protocal?

Shiela, California Death Index shows that she died in San Francisco. Do you know anything about her parents or where she was born (in England)? Hi Helen. We try to avoid San Francisco -- too big for us, although it is a beautiful city. I was just checking a Sussex map; your family lived about 17 miles away from my Vaus ancestors although my family left the area in the early 1800's. Have you tried posting a lookup for the three Richards? I'm not exactly sure how to check for them, as my family was in Canada well before that time, but perhaps someone can find them (and the parents) on a census?

Hi Helen. I saw your reply on the other thread -- I live near San Francisco. We're actually from Canada, but we've lived down here a long time. My main research has been done in Essex and Sussex. Off to a meeting now.

Hi: I was wondering if you can check info. for San Rafael, Calif. not sure how far away you are. I am looking for anything on a Dorothy E. Howard who died there in Mar. 1971. She was born in May, 1894, in England. I have some info. from Soc. security death paperwork. I believe she was involved with Christian Scientists. Many thanks for anything you can find. Regards Shiela

Well at the top of my mothers mothers branch i've got (scuse me if i don't lay it out very well but i'll do my best.) Winifred Richards b1892 East Preston d dec? 1893 possibly 1892 Shoreham-by-sea Caroline Richards b1897 East Preston tentative record found for that date. Annie Richards b1893 Winifred Married = Fred Jennings b circa 1895 although suspect earlier now i know winnie was born earlier. They had a daughter Daphne b circa 1925 Annie Married = Arthur Scully b 1897 tentative record found we think we found a recor for his brother albert b 1900 and there was a sister Kate b circa 1902. Annie and Arthers children were Norah Scully b 1920 and Nancy scully born circa 1921. Nancy married Reg (reginald??) Brooks b circa 1918 Daughter Brenda Brooks born circa 1945. I'm stuck on going up from the top. Trying to figure out the parents. Don't know if i need to order a birth cert or what. Can't be sure but it seems pretty likely that the birth records we found for at least two of the top sisters are correct as they were both from the same place. Also want to try and go up from Reg Brooks but i don't even have an inkling of the history on that side. phew! does it make any sence lol

Dea... to be honest I don't even know. I've been working on the Nutt family in ayrshire. But i'm really new to this and don't know what i should be doing lol. And in essex my fathers family name is Gilbert. Right now i'm waiting on a copy of the tree my uncle was working on. The area i'm searching most activly right now is the Richards family in Sussex. Still doesn't tell you what i need but that's cause i really don't know!
