Heather, Thanks for that, made me laugh and forget about the darn marriage I cant find!! My kids have learnt that when I ask to go on the computer for 'ten' minutes to say no, I am still there an hour later!!

Mines caught on that when I go for a wee it shouldnt take an hour! Right now he thinks Im making our office stationery order lol. Ive got the stationery website minimised ready in case he walks in.

LOL Pippa, they make our lives hell dont they! Know what you mean I had a William Henry, who depending on how he felt used one both or just his middle name. My g gran was born Clara Florence Alberta, we knew her as Florence, then when she married her marriage cert read florence Lilian, dont know where she got the Lilian from, liked the sound of it I suppose!! the marriage cert was amended down the side years later saying Florence Lilian formerly known as Clara Florence Alberta!! Heather, You are good, my house looks like a bomb site, washing needs ironing. I have done nothing all day, but sit on the computer, getting black looks from hubby and mumblings about what is happening for dinner? Looks like takeaway at this rate!!! Looked at the guy you mentioned and he looks a possibility. On the 1891 census his birth is listed as surrey and then the emunerator has put Guildford and a ? so not sure, especially as his birth place is different on the other two census' Childenfold (which i dont think exists!) and Chalford (which I think should be shalford) Found a George Boxall 1843 in shalford father henry thought great and then found him on the 1871 whilst my George ws with Emily......bum Fuzzy x

On the evidence that you have so far it seems like the most likely candidate. Sometimes you have to think around the box for instance I had a Mary Foster born in Lambley getting married but couldn't find her anywhere. Turns out she was born Polly and used Mary from her wedding day onwards. If it wasn't for people on here I wouldn't have found Angelina Ford's second marriage - she decided to use the name Lena for the occaision! You might find her under Emily when things are transcribed better but exact names weren't as important then as they are now.

Thanks Grandpa, Soooo frustrating, spent over two hours last week trawling through 10 years worth of the Ancestry complete images, dont mind when you find what you are looking for, but when you draw a blank you just want to scream!! Fuzzy x

Hi Pippa, Armed with the new info I have looked again for the marriage, cannot find a George Boxall marrying a anyone Baker!! will check the Ancestry complete images again tommorrow, looked at the partial ones but no luck! thanks for your help Pippa, do you think I am right in thinking that it is my Emily Baker at home in the 1861 census?

Don't give up yet. Free BMD haven't finished transcribing the marriage records for that period. Good luck and happy hunting. Jim

Emily = Emma, Emmie, Erma

Amelia = Amy, Emily, Mel, Melia, Millie

Yes but Emily is often used as a pet name possibly short for Amelia for instance.

No Pippa the childs name is Amelia, the daughter of George Boxall and Emily Baker, the marriage I am looking for is for the parents of Amelia. Fuzzy x

Have you looked for the marriage under the name Amelia or Emma?

Hi Pippa I have the birth cert for the child Amelia born in 1881, my direct Ancestor wasn't registered!! Just looked at the other census' Birth place for George Boxall in 1871 says Childenfold, in 1881 Chalford, in 1891 surrey then Guildford? poor Emily is dead by the 1891
