Valerie, haven't we looked at this before? I would have thought your best bet was to look at the actual parish record entry (church name given as T. Christch Newgate, if that helps) to see what it says rather than relying on transcriptions (even Pallot's Marriage Index is just a transcription, as of course is the IGI.) But as far as Pallot's goes, it definitely says Ivy. I think the confusion crept in because the IGI says Joy, if I remember rightly. Kate.

Thanks for checking for me ,thats what I thought but somebody in the family said it is Joy Its not always easy to read the writing

Hi - it says Elizabeth Ivy as far as I can make out. If it said 'Joy' the 'J' would look like the 'J' on 'John'. Hope that's helped.

its the marriage of a John Samuel Keen 16/11/1834 Christchurch to a Elizabeth either Ivy or Joy
