Ordered two on the 13th and the final one came today. Unfortunately, it was accompanied by two other certificates with different application numbers. I’m returning the two certs sent in error, as per GRO instructions. All in all, not very impressed with the recent service. The TNT envelopes had no postmark, so I’ve no idea exactly how long they spent on route. Both GRO application sheets still showed; post 28 June. I trust someone has had their ears burnt over this. We all make mistakes but this appears to have been a fiasco. A bit more information from the GRO wouldn’t have gone amiss. Also agree with the comments about our money in their bank account situation – I won’t be quite so patient next time. Moan over – happy now.

When mine arrived about 10 days ago there was a customer survey form in with them. Wish I'd filled it in now.

Janet Report 7 Jul 2006 13:46

Hi - Phoned GRO today about mine- ordered 22nd June, despatch 3rd July - still not received today. Lady there said new system, despatched via TNT and then Royal Mail - said was having a few problems. Have to wait until next week, if not received they will re-do (but will I receive them) Me had a moan about them taking the money well before despatching - money taken 26th June (10 days so far) - Better in their bank account than mine - I dont think. Just think how many days they have the money when they are working on long despatch dates. Have contacted Public Relations - dont know if I will get reply. Jan

Oh JOY! The other cert is a marriage cert. It gives the groom's father's middle name (didn't know he had one!) and says he's deceased, so I can now look back for his death.

AND Susan's husband, Elizabeth's husband and Emma's 2nd husband all worked for the railways!

Unknown Report 7 Jul 2006 11:32

Definitely the right one. The lady died at the same address as she is on previous census, in Cambridge. Her daughter - just found her on 1881 census, one of her sons was born Holloway, London. I'm fascinated by this. Dead lady had several daughters, all born Cambridge, one of them is my gt grandmother Emma, who married in Holloway. On one census her sister Eliza was staying with her. Another sister, Elizabeth, married in Cambridge but lived a few streets away from Emma in Holloway. Now I've found Susan had a son in the same area! nell

you are right Suzie someone on the general boards has done that and GRO said they had been on to TNT and it was their fault.

Zoe

Zoe Report 7 Jul 2006 10:37

just put a thread about this on the General board - but no-one seem sinterested if GRO have TNT on a trial then it's worthwhile everyone emailing them to say when their certs were due for despatch and when they actually recieved them so that GRO can see exactly how rubbish TNT are. Zoe
