That is the nearest birth match I could find....their are a few others but the details didn't quite fit (although they all seem to have a father called George!)....What I want to do is find a definate link between those two janes....At the moment it could all just be coincidence??

It all depends on the choice of birth rference-if the one you picked out for 1849 is her, then yes,the pre 1870 stuff is right......what we need to establish is the accuracy of her birth year and how many candidates there are.

Her maiden name was Jane Carpenter and she gives her place of birth as Bishops Waltham, Hampshire ( info from 1871/1901) 1891 census place of birth is recorded as Shirrels Heath in 1870 she marries Samuel Emo in Alton, Hampshire and gives fathers name as George Carpenter – occupation – Dead Samuel dies in 1879 in 1881 she marries again to a John Gill in Alton, Hampshire but this time states that her father was a coal merchant. Can’t find her in the 1881 census but she would be a widow….two of her children were inmates in the Union School one was staying with her aunt and one is also missing.. I have a possible birth for her which is Jane Carpenter 1849 Apr-May-Jun Droxford Hampshire Details from the cert Id.o.b. 28th March 1849 at Droxford sub-district - Hambledon Father: George Carpenter- Labourer. Mother: Jane Carpenter nee Biddel Which would tie in with this from the 1861 census Elizabeth Carpenter abt 1857 Gosport, Hampshire, England Daughter Alverstoke Hampshire Ellen Carpenter abt 1860 Gosport, Hampshire, England Daughter Alverstoke Hampshire Emily Carpenter abt 1852 Fareham, Hampshire, England Daughter Alverstoke Hampshire George Carpenter abt 1827 Austrey, Hampshire, England Head Alverstoke Hampshire Jane Carpenter abt 1825 Droxford, Hampshire, England Wife Alverstoke Hampshire Jane Carpenter abt 1849 Droxford, Hampshire, England Daughter Alverstoke Hampshire William C Carpenter abt 1851 Droxford, Hampshire, England Son Alverstoke Hampshire And maybe this in the 1851….notice the Biddel….also the image looks like age 2 for jane which would give her the right DOB Mary A Beddle abt 1845 Swanmore, Hampshire, England Daughter-in-law Fareham Hampshire George Carpenter abt 1823 Anestey, Hampshire, England Head Fareham Hampshire Jane Carpenter abt 1825 Shedfield, Hampshire, England Wife Fareham Hampshire Jane Carpenter abt 1842 Swanmore, Hampshire, England Daughter Fareham Hampshire William Carpenter abt 1851 Durley, Hampshire, England Son Fareham Hampshire

I have possible info on her but I just need that little bit extra to bring it all together so I can be 100%. Do you think I can be confident that all the info below is my Jane Carpenter? What I do know is….see below
