Hey now I am getting confused. Do we really want all these different sites doing the same thing? I thought the bmdshare site was the one to do this and is the one I intend uploading my certs to. What do the others do that this doesn't? I've never heard of them before. Can one of you wise people out there with more spare time than me, give us a summary of what they all do? It would be most appreciated. It's a bit like the main search. Ancestry is definitely King, but familysearch has older records and more parish records, so I can see that they are complementary to a point. But I don't want MORE sites to search, I just want those that are there to be more comprehensive. Margaret

You are correct in saying that certificate images cannot be uploaded to websites, but the information within them can be shared with others on websites such as the certificate exchange which is at http://www.arewerelated(.)co(.)uk/birth_certificate(.)php

This is the law as I understand it. As all BMD Certificates are subject to copyright we are not allowed to hold or supply images of the certificates. However, as all the certificates have been bought, the owner can share the information on them without being in breach of the law. dizzy

Hi Willow...Its like I said would it not be possible to put on the trying to find..cos thats basically what we are doing..and the info is all set up where it can be done alphabetically and the persons info is there to contact.Just seems a shame as not many people use trying to find. All set up and ready for the off as you might say.Wanda.xx How are you anyway?

The BMDshare site is really getting going now! If we get too many different sites doing the same thing it will be silly and more work for everyone! We just need to concentrate on one site and go for it! Have a look at www(.)bmdshare(.)com(.) dizzy

There are quite a few out there its not a new idea. www*bmdshare*com is probably the newest, and I believe its still free to join at the moment. You also need to consider that you will need to obtain copyright permission from the GRO and Scotlandspeople etc to display information given in any of the certificates that they have provided, this permission would also need to be extended to RO (record offices) for any parish records.

The person who started to put them in order was Victoria Uren.Have found my message to her but cant find her thread. She called it her baby as she had done a lot of work on it.Can anyone else remember her? I joined the bmdshare site which is very good but anyone who can sort a site out and make it happen then go ahead cos your a genius! Wanda.x

Just a suggestion but could they not be put on the trying to find board where you can search alphabetically. Also there was a thread on here where everyones certs had been put in some order. Will see if I can find the thread..all the work was done by the lady so perhaps she got fed up with it..Going to look now.Wanda.x

We would not only find it useful, we would love you forever!!! That would be absolutely brilliant. As has been said in a few threads recently, there are threads and sites but no easy search facility and it takes an awful long time to go through them to see if there is anything that might help you personally. If you could set up such a site, it would be a wonderful tool for all of us and definitely one to stick on our 'favourites'.
