Fiddlers Green is a hamlet slightly south of Newlyn EAST - important difference as Newlyn is near Penzance and Newlyn EAST is near Newquay. The two places are about 45 miles apart. Hope this helps when trying to sort the wood from the trees! OC

Thankyou all so much for your help. Dea I am going to order the certificate for Clifford A Vincent and there is also a Dudley Cecil Vincent with mothers maiden name as Curtis, so this could be them. Ohhh i'm really excited and am going to be running after the postman all of next week now. Thankyou very much for your help i appreciate it. Jen

Jennie, I see you have all the Vincent children as born 1928 - Newquay. - You realy need to track them down. There is at least one you could follow - Clifford A was born in 1920 - Q3 Ref St. Columb 5c 146. - mothers maiden name Curtis so it is obviously the correct one. His birth cert would give parents names then you could link back. Also, there is a Marion Avis born Sep 1908 and an Eldred Thomas H born Dec Q 1903. It should therefore be possible to trace the Vincents back on census's. Dea x

I don't mind the fact that i don't know yes it does annoy me a little but i accept that i probably will never know who he father is. I would like to try and find out though who her real mum is and see how it all links into the Vincents but i am accepting that i may never know. The Vincent name has been passed down as a middle name as Myra said she is the last one to have the vincent name but with getting married her children are called Whiteheads. Her sons middle name is Vincent, my husbands middle name is Vincent and my sons middle name is Vincent, so it would just be nice to see who the Vincents were. Thanks Jen

Well Jennie - It depends - Under normal circumstances it would state her father's name and occupation. In this case, I suspect this will have been left blank so it will tell you nothing more. BUT - If she knew who her father was, she just might have felt that she had to say !! It all depends how much you need to know! Dea x

Sorry i'm back now. My baby is poorly so had to pop to the doctors. I may be on and off of here for a while as got the dreaded diarhoea and sickness bug. Myra is still alive but there is no way i could ask her as we had a falling out over this about 2 weeks ago. I agree that it is 1928 Myra was born now that i have fresh eyes again. I have found a Dudley C Vincent J?F?M 1924 St Columb his mothers maiden name was Curtis died oct 1989 Truro. Could this possibly be her so called brother. Thanks again Jen

Sorry Jennie, I can trace this family back REALLY easily, and sideways, but it is very difficult to link to Myra's birth in 1928 because of the big gap between census. The family were still at Fiddlers Green in 1901 but Myra's mum was probably not even born then !! Did Myra get married ? The only think I can think of is to try to find a christening - Is there a particular church that the family seemed to use? - Sometimes, although the father is not named on the cert - he IS named at the christening!! I really think there is a very good chance that his surname will be Varker ! Dea x

for when you return Is Myra still with us? and if sadly not then could you say where she died - as may help narrow down the search. Dea what dob can you read on myras cert - i thought it 1928 - jen initially thought it was 1926 - a third eye would be welcome - cheers jen

Sorry Dea its the 1891 census i have used Horace Curlis 1891 to do the search on but the head of the house is Thomas Curlis 1859. Sorry about that fingers must of hit the wrong key. Jen

If Myra was adopted by her grandma when she was a baby, then I would imagine that the 'brothers and sisters' that you know about are more likely to be aunts and uncles. You would have to painstakingly go through the births on Ancestry qtr. by qtr. looking for their births, to find out who their parents were - probably Myra's grandparents. Kath. x

Jennie, You gave me an RG12 ref no - 1901 is an RG/13 - can you tell me which census and give me the full details of 'head' so I can find them please? Dea x

If Myra Pauline Varker are all in the same column of the birth certificate, then these are all given names and not her surname. Her surname is Vincent - same as her mother's, so looks like she was illegitimate. Kath. x
