MORE.... Phoebe Page Pearson was born Stockton 10a 30 - MARCH Q 1859. - If I am right, the Phoebe Powell on the same 1871 census is Phoebe Page Pearson who was born before Ann Pearson married John Powell - she then took on the name Powell Will look further later, Dea x

Good morning Dea, I wonder why Ann Powell (possibly Pearson) is down as born at Sunderland? My belief is that she was born at Waghton? Wigton? Cumberland. It seems the family migrated to Middlesbrough between 1845 and 1851. This is according to the 1851 Census. Only the youngest child Isabella is down as born in Middlesbrough. Phoebe Page Pearson was born 16 Jan 1859. I have her birth cert. There is no father's name on it.

Can't find the Powells in 1861. Also looked at 1871 image for Elias Thomas as the transcription of his place of birth didn't sound right. It looks like Todfechen Sant to me but I can't find a place with that name either so I don't know which county to look for him in earlier censuses. Back later. Janice

Sorry Grampa - I know I am a REAL PAIN !!, but how do you know that Telica is Phoebe Page (Pearson). Do you have the marriage? Thanks, Dea x

Dea

Dea Report 24 Jul 2006 13:00

You don't say if you have Phoebe's wedding cert but if not, The reference is Hartlepool 10a 192 - Dec. Q 1877. William is down as THOMAS WILLIAM Weatherall - she - Phoebe Pearson. Dea x

Judith, There is a reference for Phoebe Page Pearson - Stockton 10a 30,- so, I think IGI is unreliable on that one. Dea x P.S. - The marriage ref is ALSO Stockton, although there is obviously a Middlesborough Yorkshire connection as on 1891 - Phoebe'Wetherall's birth place is Middlesborough, Yorkshire. VERY confusing!! Come back Grampa - We need you!! Dea x

Not just the boarder in the 1891, the servant is a Powell too and it looks like they are Ann's offspring if you look at the 1881. Why were they called lodger and boarder if they were family? Janice

Hi Girls, Sorry about that I had to go to a meeting. back now so here goes. I have Phoebe Page Pearson's birth cert Spaces for father's name and occupation are struck through. Mother Ann Pearson, 3 John Street, Middlesbrough. born 16 Jan 1859. I have my grandfather John James' birth certificate, son of William Thomas Wetherall and Phoebe Wetherall formerly Pearson. I have a marriage certificate for Thomas William Weatherall 21, bachelor, Puddler Frederick Street, Hartlepool, son of Thomas Weatherall, Miller and Phoebe Pearson, 18, spinster, also of Frederick Street father's name and profession struck through. 17 Dec 1877 Oddly enough they appear to not have had children until 1884. Or none that I know of anyway. Then it was 1886, 1888, 1890, 1897 and 1900 so there probably were a few children I have missed.

Do you know where the 'Page' comes from - It doesn't seem to be a fa,ily name - Could it be the surname of the real father? Who are the witnesses on wedding cert please? Dea x

Unknown Report 24 Jul 2006 16:31

Dea, you darling, I do believe that you have pointed us towards the missing link. The witnesses were Elizabeth Fletcher and Ann wait for it! Powell!!!!! PS I have always assumed that Page was her father's surname but have no evidence whatsoever.
