Hi all, I have been trying to sort out my ‘muddled’ Parnell family by getting some certs, but I’m not getting very far. Hoping that somebody can help please. I can’t find the birth ref’s of the children (apart from Edward Parnell Davy), a marriage between Edward Parnell and Sarah Davy or a death of the 1st Sarah Parnell nee Fulcher. This is what I have…sorry its long… Edward Parnell married Sarah Ann Fulcher 1847 Jun Q St Faiths, Norfolk (I have the marriage ref, but not the cert) This is them in 1851 Edward Parnell abt 1826 Taverham, Norfolk, England Head Costessey Norfolk George Parnell abt 1844 Drayton, Norfolk, England Son Costessey Norfolk Sarah Ann Parnell abt 1831 Drayton, Norfolk, England Wife Costessey Norfolk by 1861…Edward has a housekeeper Sarah Dav(e)y .. Emma P Davey abt 1860 Little Melton, Norfolk, England Daughter Little Melton Norfolk Parnell E Davey abt 1858 Bawburgh, Norfolk, England Son Little Melton Norfolk Sarah Davey abt 1830 Intwood, Norfolk, England Housekeeper Little Melton Norfolk Edward Parnell abt 1827 Taverham, Norfolk, England Head Little Melton Norfolk George Parnell abt 1850 Drayton, Norfolk, England Son Little Melton Norfolk Mary A Parnell abt 1853 Drayton, Norfolk, England Daughter Little Melton Norfolk The Parnell E Davey is Edward Parnell Davy and I have his birth cert. Which says that Sarah Davy (no e) is his mother, no father named, but Edward Parnell (snr) registered the birth. (I am therefore assuming that Edward Parnell snr is his father) this is 1871.. Albert Parnell abt 1866 Norwich Son St Clement Norfolk Edward Parnell abt 1829 Taverham, Norfolk, England Head St Clement Norfolk Edward Parnell abt 1858 Bawburgh, Norfolk, England Son St Clement Norfolk Emma Parnell abt 1860 Little Melton, Norfolk, England Daughter St Clement Norfolk Frederick Parnell abt 1854 Hethersett, Norfolk, England Son St Clement Norfolk Rebecca Parnell abt 1869 Norwich Daughter St Clement Norfolk Sarah Parnell abt 1829 Cringleford, Norfolk, England Wife St Clement Norfolk Sarah Parnell abt 1862 Norwich Daughter St Clement Norfolk I do have the family in 1881 and 1891, but not in 1901. The other problem I have is that I don't know for sure which children belong to which mother. There's a Frederick bn c 1854 who pops up in 1871, but is not with the family before. Oh yuck what a muddle! Thankyou for all your efforts Julie.. I will understand if you want to leave it now! I know I feel like chucking this family in the bin!!...lol Sue

hiya again, you say you cant find a death or marriage, have you trawled the images on ancestry q by q?? to see if there is anything??? if not then i think this is the time to be looking, it is possible the first sarah didnt die, she may have remarried, do you have any other certs from second marriage regarding the children??? to see if a later one has name of davy (or parnell formerly davy), and in regard to the first one being named parnell, with no father, i would say that you are correct and this was the mothers way of linking the father to the son, I know i'm not helping much, but sometimes it helps to have it all infront of you Julie

Crafty Report 24 Jul 2006 20:25

Hi Julie, Yes I did trawl through the images a few months ago for their deaths, didn't find anything, but without knowing for sure if they married, I could have easily missed something! I only have the birth cert for Edward Parnell Davy, as he was the only one I had a ref for. I think I may have just found the birth ref for Rowland Parnell - its under Roly Parnell Davy 1872. But I can't find the others. Sue

I've just had a thought... I do have a marriage for Rebecca and one for Albert, if i get their marriage certs.. that will help..? I'm getting to the point where I can't think clearly!...(think that's why I gave up last time i tried with this family) Sue
