On a similar note there is one person on my tree that i can't view the info on. I can get to everyone else but not him!

I'm having problems with my tree too. I can see my tree OK but when I click on some of my Gt Grandparents children to see their details and who they married it says 'Sorry there is a problem with connecting to GR' If I search for their spouse's names I can click on them OK but it still won't let me see their wife's details...Odd or what?

Ooh Sandy - I've just posted a thread on the general board. Mine trees gone too. I'm not here anymore. Done a disappearing act along with a family in excess of 500. Just hope we are having a good time somewhere. Sandra

I have said this several times and now i'm going to shout. DON'T RELY ON GENES AS THE ONLY PLACE TO STORE YOUR TREE,AS HAS BEEN SHOWN GR IS A VERY UNSAFE PLACE TO KEEP YOUR TREE INFO.IF THE INFORMATION SHOULD DISSAPPEAR THEN MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A BACKUP COPY SAVED TO DISC,THAT WAY IF BOTH GR AND YOUR COMPUTER SUFFER PROBLEMS YOU STILL HAVE YOUR DATA SAFE.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You have been warned. Glen (blue in the face from repeating himself)

Mine hasn't vanished but I am having trouble accessing some of the people on it. I emailed GR and they replied saying they knew there was a problem and they hoped to solve it by Wednesday this week! Hope they sort yours too! Fingers crossed for you! Caroline

Just looked in as I have a problem with viewing one of my ancestors - says problem on page -error- its nice to know some is already looking into it- (the problem - not my tree) thanks

Caroline Report 5 Aug 2006 23:49

Well I wasn't sure if it was relevant but thought I would share it just in case! I just hope they sort the major issues like losing complete trees! I was upset to not get access to two people but to have nothing....I'd be devastated. Still heres hoping eh! Caroline

Absolutely agree with you, Glen ... :-) It would never have occurred to me to put my whole tree on a website. I have it on a family tree program, and put just some of my direct ancestors on GR. I do hope that GR sort this out very soon ... as well as other matters. Joy

I can view most of my tree, but when i click on my 2x gt grandfather, George Richard Blanchett, I get the 'trouble connecting you' message. Can scroll through my tree with everyone else, but not him...Can't look at his details or scroll up from his box. Also nudging this for Myra in Wales. Regards, Debbie O'

I've found a workaround solution to the problem where you can't access some people on the tree because it keeps timing out: Go to Immediate Family (in the left-hand margin of this page), and click on the various names till you get to the one you're having trouble with. Click on Edit. Check to see if there are any obvious errors (e.g. a date in the place box) and correct them, then click on Save Changes, even if you haven't made any changes.
