Ok, I just typed that in the heading to get your attention. On the General board, theyre discussing meets. Im sure many of you/us would like to arrange a get-together, or an outing to the local records office - handy for people who dont know where to start looking. Would anyone be interested?

Ann I want to go to Northallerton too and most of the others you suggested as well, certainly Darlington and Durham, - only being a southerner now I thought I'd start with the one nearest to me!! I may manage it sometime in the autumn. It would be lovely to meet up with you and anyone else as I haven't a clue and perhaps we could manage to help each other a bit. Bye for now Kate

Just happened to look at the Coventry family History Society site and there is a link to the new Warwick Record Office catalogue. There are some very useful things there! http://archivesunlocked.warwickshire.gov.uk/DServe.exe?dsqApp=Archive&dsqCmd=Index.tcl

Ann, Kate and Jean, I go to Northallerton quite regularly and I'd be happy to meet up with you all and show you the ropes if you don't already know them (you may even get to meet my little pixie who lives on the boards too). Northallerton's a lovely little office and they're very friendly and helpful (just don't pinch my seat!!) Just give me a shout and see what we can all come up with. Snowdrops

If you need any web sites for the local archives/record offices i have listed 90+ offices, complete with phone numbers, website url,fax numbers and opening hours on a thread. Thread search for 'The A-Z',there are 3 threads 1 scanned or handwritten certs from register offices 2 address details for the register offices 3 The Records/Archives offices, with address etc Sometimes it's easier to find than trying to google.
