Alan, I hope you are only talking about the Success Board there. I would hate them to do that for this board and the other ones, because it would take forever to get a thread going and our membership fees would increase, but I do think it would be a good idea as far as the Success Board is concerned - or make that one members-only too! (By the way, Alan, spookily, it looks as though you posted your reply after my first one, but it went on before mine!) Kate.

I am on several religious boards and because of the nature of these boards, wierdo's often try to post but they are blocked. As soon as someone posts. the post is held in a que until someone has the opportunity to review it. If it is OK, then it is posted. If not, it is then deleted. That way, people do not have to suffer the abuse. I have suggested this many times to genes but have never had a reply.

Oh, I really wish GR would monitor the success board. I will send them another email tomorrow, but I must go to bed now! (Spent too long tapping away at the computer... but at least it is downstairs, not in my bedroom! Otherwise I would have to stop when my OH went to bed, wouldn't I? Horrible thought!) Kate.

Sorry Paul....I know you are serious, but this.....: ''This is a sad person who doesn't leave his bedroom but sits tapping away at a computer.'' ........is a bit close to the mark (except I am downstairs and female!) lol Merry

Yes Paul, you are right and it is a timely reminder that we should all be perhaps a little more careful in the personal information we inadvertently give each other in our postings.(I am one of the offenders here!) You just never know what nutcase is watching and taking it all in - including NON-paying members, who can read everything we post. OC

As I said in regard to yesterday's posting, these are the ramblings of a disturbed mind. Look beyond the disgusting words and you will see paranoia and persecution complex. This person's references to friends suggests that they do not have a friend in the world. This is a sad person who doesn't leave his bedroom but sits tapping away at a computer. I would bet the bedroom walls are covered in similar scribblings and there are empty pizza delivery boxes all over the floor.

OC That's the point isn't it? They are the dregs of society and GR think more of them than long standing members

I have sent an email to the 'abuse' section of GR about this post on Success board saying that I find it offensive and requesting that it be removed. This is the second email I have sent today - the first about the fact that the site has been so slow today that it is almost unuseable. Getting really fed up with the whole site, which was brilliant when I first subscribed nearly four years ago. Kath. x

When I think how rapidly our off-topic, but harmless, threads have been removed by GR - AND over a weekend, so there is someone 'in the Office' - I truly wonder what they do all day. I would expect them to routinely scan the boards, particularly the Success Board which is the entrance to this Site. There are some very very odd people who are members of this Site - wonder how much work they actually do on their trees, and whether the main attraction of GR for them is the fact that the Site is completely unpoliced and they can air the nastier sides of their natures completely without restraint. I complained earlier about the slowness of the site, I think the staff in the office only work mon-fri so basically anyone can post what they like over the weekend. I think it's time GR stopped non members posting, and got rid of the general board which is where all this nonsense comes from!! Linda

Hi Jennie This member(?) posted twice under member no 5423114 and then 20 minutes later under member no 5423362. GR appears to have no control over this at all. I don't think GR have anyone here at all over the weekend, that's when all the trouble starts and it's getting so predictable and tiring. Kat

Jennie Report 20 Aug 2006 22:57

Kat - how appalling for someone to write that. I don't ususally visit any other boards, just Tips and Records so don't really know what other people write. I have no suggestion but surely GR will take it off. Have they all gone home? Why do they let people post if they are not paid members? Surely they should only be allowed to read the boards until they have paid. Jennie

Seen the Success board? Just how disgusting is that posting, and not the first. At least if I do not want to view a thread on any other board I do not have to open it.... On success board it is right in your face. These people seem to be using other or bogus email addy's to set up a free account and then writing whatever foul thing they fancy. I understand that they want people to be able to view the site for free in hopes that they might join but I cannot understand GR allowing anyone to post without payment. Why do they allow that? Can't they see the system is open to abuse? Surely there is something we can do as a group to put pay to this . Any suggestions??? Kat. considering whether to renew or not
