Members of my family claim a link to fair Rosemund Clifford who was mistress to Henry 11. My great great grandparents were Richard Clifford married Elizabeth Turner Hope and both families lived in the village of Wyck Rissington in Gloucestershire. We don't have all the marriages and baptisms but we do have almost a complete set of wills back to about 1550. I can't claim much credit as the work had already been done before I got interested in family history. Anne

Liz In my case it has been easy, because my ancestors stayed in the same place for 350 years, and the PRs are complete, from 1542. OC

I would be interested to see how people go back once you reach back to the end of 1700s to beginning 1800s. I think I've reached about 1776 thanks to one of the grandparents visiting on the 1851 census, but all my ancestors from about 1870/80 back are from all ends of the country. That said, some of the ones that married and died in my home town are proving to be a real pain. I suspect that going back further involves lots of holidays in places you probably wouldn't go otherwise. Ironically, one line has been tracked to a village in north devon. My parents were just there on holiday in July... before I found these ancestors roots! Talk about missed opportunity. Liz

I have managed to go as far back as the late 1600's. Hit a bit of a brick wall now but still trying. Regards David

Hi Angela, I have managed to get back to 1785 and have a baptism record of that event. I have had great help from the Bedfordshire RO in reaching this far, they have been so very helpful, they are certainly on my Christmas card list. Kathlyn

And how did you source it? I have managed to get back to 1699 (sourced) and have a photo copies of the baptisms on my Binch side. From 1699 to 1764. I do know I have a Thomas Binch b 1674 but have been unable to source this as yet :(
