Can anyone help I really am in a fix here because I know nothing at all about computer repairing problems. My Grandson (aged 9) was on the computer today and has changed my windows live messanger somehow. Whatever he did to change it also deleted my Internet Explorer 6 and I also think he tried to download the new Internet Explorer 7. He obviously didin't finish the download and switched the computer off in case he got into trouble. I came on and No Internet Explorer 6 Icon, half loaded Internet explorer 7. I am lost with this, in fact couldn't get on GR, just managed by using an e-mail to get on here PLEASE HELP. Betty

You could try restoring to an earlier date and see if that helps fix problem.

Hi Mary, Thanks for replying, I tried a system restore but somehow because the new Internet Explorer 7 was partly downloaded I kept getting a message pop up that the download wasn't complete and it wouldn't allow me to do a system restore. That was the first thing I thought of too. Betty

Finish the download and then do a system restore. Carol www*genealogyprinters*com

How about going onto MS and downloading IE7 update, if it's 'cos it was only partially downloaded that might cure it.

Hi Carole, I wont do either, I can't finish the dowload because I don't know exactly what version he downloaded, nothing is coming up to complete. As it hadn't dowload the complete programme, I though about that but nothing is coming up to say complete download. Betty

Hi Mary, I can't get into Internet Explorer to finish the download at all. It won't allow me to go onto Internet Explore at all. Ther isn't an Internet Explorer Icon to click on anyway. Betty

I really don't like the look of this new Internet Explorer 7 anyway, it's not the same as IE6. Its more like MSN. It won't allow me to complete the download and it won't allow me to delete it either!!!! Betty

Hi Betty Sorry hunni, short of a complete Windows restore then I really don't know what else to suggest, but I hope you manage to get it sorted without having to do that. Mary

Hi Betty It's where you completely wipe your hard drive clean and install Windows from scratch. But before you think about doing that (cos it takes hours!!) first try asking Judy From The States for advice, she's posted some good PC maintenance tips on here before, so I'm sure she wouldn't mind. Hi Betty, I do honestly understand just how frustrated you must feel, if it had been one of mine they would probably be yelling 'Childline' by now. Firstly I would have very strong words with him, let him know the 'dire' steps that will be taken should he ever interfere with your work again. Then, stand by the window grab the first 5 year old that passes, I am sure they will sort it for you!!!!!!! I know it is very early in the afternoon, but go and pour yourself a LARGE G&T, ungrit your teeth and smile, it could have been worse. Kathlyn
