Why can't I send e-mails to Canada and America from the UK, they keep being returned with error messages although the e-mail addresses are correct. Betty

What are the error messages you are getting Betty?

Elly

Elly Report 4 Nov 2006 13:35

Hi Betty There shouldn't be any reason at all - providing the address is correct. Some people have their setting not receive attachments - so maybe that's it? Can you get them to e-mail you? Then you can be absolutely sure of the correct address. Make sure the address has the correct ending - i.e. dot uk would be an english address, theirs would need dot au? dot com is not country specific so you should be ok with those. Good luck Elly

Hi Keith and Elly, I know this is the proper e-mail address. The funny thing is if she sends me an e-mail and I just click on reply then it goes ok. Its just when I use the e-mail address to send a new e-mail it is returned. Also Judy in the states gave me her e-mail address and I couldn't contact her either. Betty

Betty I suggest that you just keep an e-mail from them and reply to that every time, deleting their message when you wish to send a new one. It does look like they are blocking your address for some reason.

Hi Keith, No one of the addresses in America was Judy In The States she didn't understand why I couldn't contact her either. The other in canada said she doesn't block any e-mail from the UK or anywhere else, she said she doesn't even know how to block an e-mail, neither do I. Also a family member in America I can't e-mail her. Betty

Hi Betty, what I actually meant was their service providers are blocking your address, not the individuals themselves. As I said, as a workaround for now, just keep replying.

Hi Keith, Oh the service provider, I understand what you mean now, I wonder why they would just block mine though. Betty

KeithInFujairah Report 4 Nov 2006 14:03

It may be not just yours Betty, they may have blocked a 'block' of address's that includes your provider.

Hi Keith, I was with Freeserve which became Wanadoo, which is now Orange. My e-mail address however is still a freeserve address. Betty

Hi Jane, Thanks for telling me about your sister, funny this has just happened to me recently so maybe something to do with Orange as you say. Betty

Hi Betty, it would appear that your providers mail server has been used to send spam (unwanted e-mails), therefore the address (83.138.189.75) has been blocked by the spam filters of the recipients providers. See this site for details:- http://psbl.surriel.)com/ Remove ) You can remove your provider from the list (have done for you) but anytime spam is sent from there, it gets added again and blocked.

Ntl used to block Hot male!! and my Blueyonder address said it was to stop spam male. but my contact on ntl said she got spam anyway!!! I could only reply to her by hitting on reply. BUT NTL and Telewest have now merged and hey presto it all OK NTL denied they were doing anthing at first but telewest did confirm NTL were blocking !!! Shirley

Hi Keith, Now thats just a wee bit too technical for me but I will take you word for it. What did you mean you already have?? I haven't gone onto that website yet but will have a look shortly. What is unwanted e-mail. Betty

KeithInFujairah

KeithInFujairah Report 4 Nov 2006 14:31

Hi Betty, 'Spam' is any junk e-mail sent out to many recipients. I already have removed your providers server from the 'blocked' list at the address, but as I said, next time anyone sends spam from your provider (orange) it will get blocked again. You MAY be able to send e-mails now. Good luck
