Just a thought......Any chance Maureen or Margaret has their birth cert? Winifred's middle name might be on them. Rose

Pat, If you use the quick search at the top of this page someone called Zygmunta has the Winifred Gladys Read in her tree. You could try contacting her. Rose

Hopefully the certificate will only take a few days. It should give Winifred's full name and age and father. That will help a lot. You might then have to order her birth cert to get an exaxt date of birth. This will help you find her death certificate. Rose

Sorry Pat, Had to disappear for a bit. If you order the marriage cert you will need the reference I gave you earlier. Willesden 3a 1036 Jun 1935 3a is the Volume and 1036 is the page. Rose

Well Pat I think that your best bet is to get that marriage cert - that will at least give you her age (therefore an approx year of birth) and also her father's name. If the age on her marriage cert ties in with the Winifred Reed birth in 1906, you would then need to get that birth cert. This will give you her exact date of birth and confirm the father's name. Once you have her date of birth, you might then be able to match up the forenames and dob in the 1984-2004 deaths index. Like Rose said, you could also trawl through the Ancestry images of the marriage index to see if there's another marriage. But you don't know which surname she would have used (Read or O'Connor) and in either case, you'll probably find several Winifred marriages, so still won't know for sure if it's her or not. Cheers Richard

Whatever the spelling, Reed or Read, I think that must be her. She's the only Winifred E READ/REED registered on the IOW between 1890 and 1920. Spellings get changed over time! My IOW GLASBEY became GLASBY when they moved to London.
