how can I find an ancesters maiden name?

Ruth Scott I have relations name dob etc place of marriage wifes fiirst name but no surname, it`s a huge brick wall, i can`t move on, any one help My family tree states my Robert Robinson dob1814 new Lambton was married to an Elzabeth from Reeth 1854 I have bought 1 cert and the surname i found (Hankin) was not the right one can anyone help? |

Sorry I am new to this. they appear on 1861 census, Robert died in 1863 in a mining accident, in1871 Elizabeth was head of family she died in 1877 |
