Am trying to find some ancestors who i thought were Scottish. Charles Stirling m. Elizabeth Grant, and hada daughter called Catherine inabout 1851. The daughter went onto marry in Scotland in 1869, but i can't find any trace of her birth or her parents marriage or births. Can anyon help please?

Paul I found the marriage on the IGI & it lists children for the above couple, but they are all submitted entries which means they have not been taken directly from parish records so could be wrong. Your best bet would be to invest £6 on scotlands people & view their marriage certificate & the childrens birth certificates online. Georgina.

i just check scotlands people website and still can't find that listing for her!

The marriage register states that she is 20 years when she was married in 1869, i have downloaded an image of the original fro the scotlnads people website.

I think there was a Jane born in 1854 too. And a Janet in 1959. as well as catherine

If this is Charles in 1841 it looks like he was married before he married Elizabeth & he lied about his age??? Thanks for all the help guys. It would appear that the child found on IGI born in 1842 was born out of wedlock as they did not get married till 1846 - naughty!!

Why can't i find any of these children on Scotlands People?

Because they are only OPR for that date on SP.

yeah but you can still search the OPR on SP, and allthe actual images are now available for the OPR, I can't find Charles Stiling on there either!
