A contact in the Brora area was having lots of problems with Wanadoo/Orange as you describe. It turned out to be the fault of BT though we didn't expect that due to Orange's track record. Wanadoo/Orange only chased BT when she asked for a MAC to go to another ISP a few days ago.

Since I upgraded to IE7, I often get a message telling me I have no connection. I completely ignore it and just carry on.(The connection is fine). I am on Broadband, but IE7 throws up a page telling me to do a dial up connection - I ignore it. I am with Homecall,on a budget package, and somewhere buried in the small print it says that at busy times, frequent users may be cut off to make way for non-frequent users. OC

Hi Betty :):) I have heard of one or two who seem to have similar problems and not as yet found a cure sorry all are with orange so possibly their end and they are not saying what the problem is. One thing you might try though in between times is this. Go to Tools.. Internet Options and Advanced.. Scroll down and look for Browsers. Look to see if Automatically check for internet explorer updates is ticked. If so try unticking it.Click Apply and Ok. If you do have any problems simply go back and change it back. Sometimes this being ticked can cause messages saying no internet connection to when the computer searches for updates. Colin :):)

Hi everyone, Thanks for all your replies, I have tried everything that you have all suggested, still not working properly. Also Jean I have tried what you said too, still keeps disconnecting. I think I will have to phone Orange my ISP and get this sorted out its driving me round the bend. I connect to Orange when I open up the computer then I try to go on the internet and it comes up NO CONNECTION, I click to connect and it does. I then get onto the internet and have to open a link, nothing happens, message comes up NO CONNECTION, again I click on the internet, it works then two minutes later I try to open something again or add a message on GR, I have to connect to the internet again. Jean have check it is on default connection too. What a pain, every two minutes even to send an e-mail it disconnects. Betty

Have you done a virus scan BettyBoo? Sometimes virus's can cause disconnection. I would also get rid of cookies + Temp Internet files. It might just do the trick. Does Orange have an online live chat? I know AOL does + it's quite useful at times, although its not much use if you can't stay online long enough to contact them is it! Regards Ann

Have you checked your internet connection ? Go to Internet Options, click on Connections and check that your ISP provider is checked as the default connection and that the box is ticked for 'All connections to dial my default connection'. Could also be worth looking at the Network Connection. Go to Start, click on Control Panel, click on Network Connection and right click on your default connection. Then click on Properties and when the box comes up click on Options and check that the 'Idle time before hanging up' box is marked Never ! Good luck, Jean

Betty Sorry been away from pc for a time. I,m on Virgin media, was telewest , my boxes are automatically ticked for SSl 2.0. SSL 3.0. and TLS 1.0 Not a puter whizz so these may just be relevant for Telewest/ Virgin. I think you need to contact your ISP server. Shirley

Horatia Report 1 Mar 2007 10:29

This is an error message that you get from Internet Explorer. I think most people get this message from time to time. It often happens when the internet is busy or the websites servers or your ISP's servers are having problem meeting demands. It doesn't mean that you are disconnected from the internet. The error message is just giving that as one of the options or reasons for the non display of the page. This happens to most people from time to time but the only time to worry is if it happens too often. Some websites will throw up this error message more than others because their servers can't cope with all the users - it doesn't mean there is anything wrong with your connection or your computer. Cheers, Horatia

If you are on a dial up connection it could be a dodgy modem card. Carol www*genealogyprinters*com

Every couple of minutes, oh dear, that's awful. I think there may be something in the members only part of Orange giving current status of any problems? Have to go now, sorry. You could send a PM to Steve who is the computer whizz kid on here? Take care. Bye PS BRB = be right back ... :-)

Sorry, I was watching Ade Edmondson programme in Kenya, about Comic Relief money. Don't know anything about the boxes, Betty. Sometimes ISPs do disconnect now and then. I know AOL is notorious for it. I'll just check the Orange website to see if there is any announcement - unless members only can do that. BRB

I don't have SSL 2.0 ticked either and my PC works fine. I think this is your ISP's fault. Lots of people have been moaning about Orange not only on here but on other forums too. In which case none of us can help you. You will either have to complain to Orange to sort this out or if they don't help then think about changing your ISP. I suggest you take a look at this website: http://www.orangeproblems(.)co(.)uk/ Remove brackets from web address. Cheers, Horatia
