Joy When she died in Hayling, did a member of the family register her death? Does the death certificate say where she was born? This is recorded on a recent death certificate. Gwyn

My dad registered her death but i dont think it said where she was born or if it did it would have said portsmouth and that is why i never took much notice ,i will check that out. Scarlet The date i have for my nans birth is 15/01 1912 her sister was born march 1911.My uncle said to me he had heard a rumor wen he was a child that the person he called aunty rose was in fact his mothers mum not her sister.there was no proof or anything just something he heard.I was just saying because of the dates.

Have you got Rosetta's Birth Cert? If not I would def consider getting it - will help point in the direction of parents (assuming they are the same!) and will be a useful cross reference. Cheers...Paul

its DESBOIS when she married christopher portsmouth 2b 1499 maybe the marriage cert - which will tell you her dads name is the best way to go

Yes marriage sticks out because its the only one that isnt London-ish..and co-incedentally or not IS Portsmouth, Does her death cert say where she was born - they usually do

Hi On my fathers birth certificate it is spelt desboas but on the marriage records for my nan and grandad it is spelt desbois as it is for her sister rosetta. I think i have done all the years either side. My uncle mentioned at my dads funeral about Rose (fist i knew of her)and said he heard talk that she was actully my nans mum not her sister but dont no if this was true. So if rose was her real mum and had her wen she was about 16,that would be about 1926/7 that would mean my nan would have only been 15 roughly when my dad was born in 1942. So i dont no if there is any truth in that.

I thought i was getting quite good at this researching been doing it for all of 3 weeks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but despite reading what seems like thousands of records i have not seen that marriage that a couple of you have spotted.Desbois is quite an unusal name so the chances are it does connect somewher. Thanks to all of you.
