I've found the death record of an uncle who went to Victoria, Australia in 1886 or there abouts. I can find no record of how he and his brother(can find no trace of) got there. They weren't convicts. We always wanted to know what happened to them as they lost contact with my Grandads family. Does anyone have any tips for me. Their surname was Lennon and they were from Dundalk Ireland. John is the only one I can find a record of, but he died single in 1928. Hope someone can help. Thanks

Hi Rachel, If you have John's death details, it should give you his occupation, so you might be able to follow him through the various trade directories for Melbourne/Victoria. They had post office directories called Sands and McDougall, and Wise. They are available on microfiche in some places. Geelong has their relevant sections on-line, perhaps you moight find other districts on line too. For shipping, start with Tony's suggestion of the PROV online indexes to immigration. If only one died in Victoria, the other should be sought in any/all other states, there has always been lots of moving around. Diane

John was a retired Police Constable, I checked with the Victorian Police Historical Society, they have no record of him. His death cert only lists Victoria and Ireland as places of residence.
