Suzanne, Perhaps I am dim but could you explain how these threads 'Who we are looking for in ......' are more effective than the normal search facility on this site? You can search by name and place, and you don't have to scroll through dozens of unwanted names. Peter |

Hi Everyone I am looking for the COPLAND family who started off in Southport and eventually moved to Wallasey. My great grandfather, James Copland, stood for local government in the Poulton Ward in Birkenhead in the early 1900's. He also became proprietor of the Poulton Hygienic laundry in 1903.I believe this is in Gorsey Lane in Southport. Willie COPLAND, (James's son) had the first chemist shop in Morton(according to my uncle) and they also ran a chicken farm in Thingwall. Jack and Bert COPLAND owned the Karpoo Laundry Service in the 1930's.which was also based in Southport Connie NICHOLSON was the matron of Quarrybank Nursing Home in Bootle in the 1920's. Anyone heard of these places? I live in Scotland so do not know the area at all. |
