Lin, You've posted this several times before. Have nudged up one of your previous threads when you were ''Lindy Lou'' as I hate to see the same ground hashed over again. As I said before: ''I doubt John existed. Looks at all the evidence: There's no marriage, he's not mentioned on birth certs, Charlotte has no maiden name, he's not on any censuses. I think John was listed on the marriage cert to save face. It's a common ploy.'' Rose

Thank you everyone, I'll send for a couple of certs. I'm more hopeful than I've been for quite a long time. Thanks again, I'm really grateful. Lin

Anyone know how I can view the Workhouse records please

NicolaDunbyNocula

NicolaDunbyNocula Report 21 Jun 2007 00:59

its possible that she only went into the workhouse to have her children, which is was quite common.

Georgina

Georgina Report 21 Jun 2007 00:58

She may not have even registered the births, but surley the workhouse would have had them registered? The nearest birth for Charles I can see on FreeBMD is this one... Births Mar 1856 (47%) PARSONS Charles Kernick Newington 1d 222 I cant find Charlotte in 1851, has anyone else spotted her? Georgina.

Jim, Where did you find that marriage, I've looked forever without success. Only thing is, what was she doing in the workhouse in 1846 and again 1856 if she had a husband?

You really need to get the birth certs lin, is only way to be sure it could be that this charlotte parsons in workhouse isn't your rellie, if the date of birth is exact on the birth certs as it is on what georgina found than you can certain its the same people.

Linda

Linda Report 21 Jun 2007 00:52

No Nichola, I don't have Charles birth cert. I do have his marriage cert. he is Charles Wm. Parsons aged 25. Would it really be worth getting it, it'll probably come back like his sisters - with a dash across fathers name and no maiden name the same as the daughter Charlottes.

Thelma

Thelma Report 21 Jun 2007 00:50

marriage, looks a possibility if she was married. John Parsons 1846 Apr-May-Jun Newington Surrey Charlotte Jane Cundell 1846 Apr-May-Jun Newington Surrey PS you will find that the page no. for John is 383 on the image.

Have you got the birth cert for Charles, if not I would get it first to make sure that its correct. More than likely it will be though, if her maiden name is down as Parsons. Nicola

Oh God Georgina, this just gets worse, so Joseph may really be William, how can I know for sure?

Linda

Linda Report 21 Jun 2007 00:45

Don't think that's the death Nichola, I think he would have been born circa 1825

I wonder if this is her older son but she decided to call him Joseph?? WILLIAM PARSONS Male Event(s): Birth: 13 MAY 1848 Saint Mary Newington Workhouse, Southwark, London, England Christening: Death: Burial: Parents: Mother: CHARLOTTE PARSONS Georgina.

Hi Jim, I sent for the birth cert. for Charlotte in order to get the mothers maiden name but the cert. has a dash accross fathers name and the mothers name is Charlotte Parsons no maiden name given. I'm beginning to wonder if Charlottes maiden name is Parsons and that she isn't married at all but I also have the marriage cert. for Charles which says fathers name John Parsons but to add to this I've just discovered a Charles Parsons born 16/03/1856 in St Marys Newington Workhouse, mother Charlotte Parsons!!! What now?

Georgina

Georgina Report 21 Jun 2007 00:38

It looks like she wasn't married... CHARLES PARSONS Male Event(s): Birth: 16 MAR 1856 Saint Mary Newington Workhouse, Southwark, London, England Christening: Death: Burial: Parents: Mother: CHARLOTTE PARSONS Georgina.

Nicola the only trouble with the death you found is that Charlotte has a 5month old baby on the 1861 census, unless someone else is the father? Georgina.

NicolaDunbyNocula Report 21 Jun 2007 00:32

thats a good point jim, usually you have the mothers maiden name on the birth cert. Nicola
