Agreed.........but why has Maisy picked on that entry? There are many more for John Garrett in the time-scale....... Perhaps Maisy will enlighten us. Reg

John Garrett was b.1855 in Framfield Sussex. On 1891 census states Fanny b. Farnham, Surrey and b.1863 and living in Hornsey Middlesex Sorry if I'm confusing you about where the marriage took place. Looking at the other marriages Wandsworth looked the closest to where they were living. I could be wrong!

Janice

Janice Report 20 Jul 2007 15:51

We don't know that Wandsworth is the right location - see above.

ErikaH

ErikaH Report 20 Jul 2007 15:50

None of the couples on 1891 are in the right location, as far as I can tell............ Reg

Janice

Janice Report 20 Jul 2007 15:48

Reg, I think Wandsworth has come up because that's the only John Garrett marriage on FreeBMD. Might not be the right place. Janice

ErikaH Report 20 Jul 2007 15:46

Where was Fanny born? Does Wandsworth reg'n district include her birthplace? Reg

Janice

Janice Report 20 Jul 2007 15:45

There are 4 John and Fanny couples in 1891. Which one is them? Middlesex, Yorkshire, Lancs, Wilts?

Maisy

Maisy Report 20 Jul 2007 15:43

Janice I've only looked on the free BMD because the full index wouldn't tell me who he married

Maisy

Maisy Report 20 Jul 2007 15:42

Pete, I've e-mailed you a copy. Thanks

Janice

Janice Report 20 Jul 2007 15:40

Have you looked through the full index or just FreeBMD?

Maisy

Maisy Report 20 Jul 2007 15:39

Reggie I've thought of that but I can't read the mothers maiden name to check

ErikaH

ErikaH Report 20 Jul 2007 15:37

Could the mother have been married previously? If so, the name under which she married would not be her maiden name. Reg

Maisy

Maisy Report 20 Jul 2007 15:36

Yes Pete I do have a scanner

Pete Report 20 Jul 2007 15:36

I know that John Garrett was married before and his first wife died in 1883. On the 1891 census he's with his wife Fanny so he could only have married after 1883. When I looked on BMD there is only 1 in the Wandsworth area. Sep Qtr 1887 but the names do not agree on the daughters birth certificate.

Maisy - you'll need to provide a few more details - year, quarter and where the marriage took place - then they can look at the original entry. Victoria

I've received a birth certificate but I'm unable to read the mothers maiden name. The father is John Garrett and her name is Fanny. When I looked on the BMD for a marriage there is an entry for John Garrett and Fanny Brown but the name on the certificate is certainly not Brown. Could somebody take a look for me? Thanks Maisy
