did you have to have apassport in 1916 to go from england to australia and would it have your photo on it ,the reason i asked is my dad went from england to australia and i dont have any photos of him thought i might have been able to get one joyce from holland ps he joined the australian army thank you

Have a look at this site:- http://www.passport.gov.uk/general_history_modern.asp It says the British passport started to have photos on them in 1914. Kath. x

hi Kath just to let you no i have emailed the passport office now to see if i can get copy of his passport,but not sure how long they keep there records for being it was 1916 joycex

Hi Joyce, Personally, I don't think they will send out copies of passports even if they do keep records that long (which I doubt). Hope I'm wrong though for your sake. Kath. x

Joyce, have you looked on the National Archives of Australia website? (should be the first Hit if you google.) I've found service records and such like there. They also have images, but no guarantee of any particular person, of course. It's well worth a look. Christine

hi Christine i already have his army record for when he serviced in the australian army but its trying to get aphoto of him which i dont think i will be able to getr one,thank you for your help joycex

had reply back from the passport and they said for me to go to peterbourgh office and contact disclosure of information,but i dont know which peterbourgh office can anyone help thank you joyce fron holland
