I have found it! As said, I can't offer lookups but I can perhaps tell you if your marriage is there or not. It doesn't give me the facility to look at areas of coverage. Perhaps that is on the FHS website. |

Sorry Old Crone, I have lost it! Bit disorganised at the moment due to family problems. Probably does cover Gawsworth, let me know who you are looking for, though I think you have asked me before. |

Hi again Margaret, Is this the Bertram Merrells Marriage Index ...if so can you tell me if it covers Stockport and Lymm please. I had seen it on the Cheshire FHS website and was thinking of buying it. Many thanks Linda |

Margaret I know you cannot offer lookups, and I am not asking for any, but can you tell me if it has any coverage of Gawsworth, please? OC |

Hi folks, I bought this index last week - Marriage Index of Cheshire, and it has already earned it's worth in finding me six marriages of my rellies. It primarily covers Cheshire, and although it isn't brilliant it is better than the ruddy National Burial Index that I bought. I can't remember what it cost, under £20, so if you have Cheshire rellies it might be worth buying. It is available from the Family History Society of Cheshire, and covers marriages from the 1500s to the 1800s. I am sure it isn't perfect or comprehensive, but as I say, it found me six rellies and I am delighted. I am not allowed to offer the facility for searches of this. You will have to buy it. I have no guarantee that your rellies will be on it, but I have felt it is worth it. I also have a CD of Cheshire Monumental Inscriptions, that didn't produce anything of use to me at all. Fortunately only cost £5. Hope this helps Margaret |
