It does seem strange that the grandparents would not have continued to care for Mary, but instead let her go into the pauper school. They had children not much older than her. Unless, of course, they thought they were the best for her, and she was one of those cases where relatives were not informed about the shipping to Canada.

Well, it is diffiuclt 'cos you don't get too much information on the web other than the name, place of registration, and quarter in which they died. All you can do is send off for the certificate and see who reported the death ......... and hope against hope that it was reported by a member of the family, or the address is one you know about! Could be £7 well spent, or wasted! Have to go now, it's lunchtime here (Canada) ....... I'll leave you to the tender mercies of others.
