Thanks. The good news is that I found the unknown relative now so no longer need it.

The GRO now offers a PDF download of the certs costing £6 each. Unfortunately, they are not offering marriage certs yet but it's worth keeping a look out for these. The PDFs tell you everything that the certs do but cannot be used as legal documents. They are fine for family research - and much cheaper. They also arrive faster than the certs do.

Many Parish Registers are online, and you can look at marriagse on them, but I think that 1963 might be too recent for that.

As Erika said, you'll have to put out the £9.25 to buy the certificate from GRO ....... never, ever buy from anywhere else. That is the official government site and by far the cheapest.

No option other than to buy the cert - unless it was Church wedding and you can visit the Records Office for the area.

Hi, I have subscribed to a few sites but it is so expensive. I really need to see a marriage certificate for a marriage that took place in England in 1963. I have the names and the place. Does anyone here have access to view the certificate or suggest an option that is cheaper than the GRO site please as this may be my brick wall that I need to break down. Thanks
