Hello everyone

i only have a standard membership and when I look up a birth and pay 5 credits I only see the listing of the birth not details of the parents. What is the best way to obtain a copy of the birth certificate please?

Thank you

Christine

Copies of birth certificates can only be obtained from the GRO

https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/Login.asp

Paper versions cost £9.25 including postge

However, at present one can download a PDF version from the site at a somewhat lower price. (There are some restrictions with regard to dates)

You have to register on the site, but there is no charge other than the cost of the cert(s)

Hi

is the only way to find out who the parents of the married couple are by copy of marriage certificate and or birth certificate? I have met a bit of a blank wall regarding my Great Grandmother as there seems to be several family members with the same name so not sure who father was. This relates to early part of 1800s, any suggestions?

Christine if you post the names here someone can take a look, there may be baptisms online which give some clues, or marriages or census etc. Depends on where and how common the names are.

Christine .........

yes, the only way to find out the details on any birth, marriage or death certificate is by buying the certificate ........... all you see on this site or any any other site, including Freebmd, is an INDEX

Registration of bmd began on July 1 1837.

It is sometimes possible to find parish records on line, and thus find some details of the baptism, marriage or burial.

Good Morning

I am looking for my Great Grandmother's parents. She was born in Derbyshire in 1855 and her name was Eleanor Sayer. She married my Great Grandfather, Nicholas Lintott Treble and had three children , Annie, Nicholas and Dorothy. if anyone could help with this I would be most grateful as I have a birthday book of names but no indication of relationship or year of birth. The surname Arnfield appears quite often as well.

Many thanks

Christine
