A general question..
If you want to find burial sites in a church yard can they be found anywhere online or do you need to go to the church in question?

it depends on the area, Deceased online has records but they are limited areas

some areas have their own sites like Lancashire BMD

If its an old record then i have had success in getting the death cert and ringing the parks and Cemetery dept of the local council giving details from the cert . Lots of councils now though are charging a search fee.

lots of church cemeteries have archived their records and they arent online

Generally think its look around to see what you can find .

you may not find a marked grave too ifs old and ground maintenance has taken up the gravestone and stored it too one side

dont forget too that many peope are in common graves with no marker

Do you have a specific person you are looking for?

:-)

There is a National Burial Index described here:

http://www.ffhs.org.uk/burials/nbi-overview.php

I, and I am sure many other members, have a copy of edition 3. So if you want a look up just ask.

If you mean that you know which churchyard the person is buried in, but you are looking for the exact plot. I woulld try contacting the local records office and asking them if the particular church has handed over the plot numbers. I have found some of mine that way.

If not, the church itself may have a record of the plots, so you could try contacting them

Many thanks..we have been to 2 grave yards today and alot of the head stones aren't readable..
If anyone can kindly look up a couple of people for me I would be very grateful

Percy Price born 10/03/1892 Eastington Gloucestershire died around 1961

and his wife Mary Price nee Asher she died before him in the 1950s

if anyone can find when and where they died and were buried it would be fantastic
Thank you

Get his death cert and go from there

If he was buried it would be a municipal cemetery as most churchyards hadn't been in use for many years , if he was cremated then that too would be at a council run crematorium

People either fibbed about their age, or they weren't too sure and guessed.

Part of Seyna's name has been hidden by the following closed entries. At the time the register was compiled, she was a Price, but married a Vizor shortly before Jul 1949 when the register was updated.

Freebmd gives a 1949 Price/Vizor marriage

Marriages Jun 1949 (>99%)
Price Sylvia C Vizor Cirencester 7b 820A
Vizor Albert H Price Cirencester 7b 820a

So the Seyna could well have been Sylvia.

Births Mar 1925 (>99%)
Price Sylvia C (mmn Asher) Wheatenhurst 6a 518
