Took some looking as the area changed

Was
Easington to 1938 then transferred to
DURHAM EASTERN REGISTRATION DISTRICT

Registration County : Durham.
Created : 1.7.1938 (out of Easington, Sunderland, Houghton le Spring, and Hartlepool registration districts).
Abolished : 1.5.2006 (to become part of County of Durham registration district).
Sub-districts : Castle Eden, Easington, Seaham, Sunderland Rural.
GRO volumes : 10a (1938-46), 1A (1946-74), 1 (1974-92).
Registers currently held at : County of Durham and Sunderland.

Hi can anyone tell me if a birth was registered in seaham in the 1940s which office this would come under? Durham north or Sunderland possibly?
Sorry if this is the wrong place for my question..
