Hi,
I am having trouble tracing the birth of my Grandad
Frederick Arthur Revell
born 9thMay1912(according to book of rememberance)
Died 1968
married to Ethel Catanach in 1939
they lived in Wickford,Essex
He spent a good part of his life on Thames Barges.
I was told he was from Faversham,Kent. But as of yet cant find anything :-(
Wanted to get a copy of birth certificate.
If anyone can help I would be most grateful

Hi,
Thanks for your help so far. Unfortunately I don't know his parents names. His a bit of a mystery man. I'm not sure he may have runaway from home on the barges. I've ordered a marriage certificate but I'm not sure if there will be much information on there.

Seems to be a little confusion over his birth on the 1939 register:

Looks like it was 29 October, but this is then written over as 9 May- I think they mistakenly entered Ethel's DOB first.

He was born on 9th may 1912 so not sure if that other family is his? Plus has him being down as born 1906. My Mum only recalls that he might have had a sister but knew nothing else about him ??. I guess i will need to wait for certificate to come through.

Got my Nan and Grandads wedding certificate today. Has his dad down as, George Revell? I don't know if this can help in tracing where he was from and who his family was?

unemployed I think it says! Not very helpful!

Finding it really strange I can't find his birth details!! Can records go missing or births not recorded? I did wonder if his parents where not married and was born under mothers maiden name?

Who were the witnesses to the marriage?

Sometimes they help to find the correct family.Often one has to go 2 or 3 steps back in order to take one forward.
