this is the last message I have from my f/b friend
am SO CONFUSED with a Martha who had 3 daughters (so far) - Sally Ann Marriot Salmons, Ann Salmons, and Mary Ann Marriot. (sp. Marriott). Any enlightenment for me? Area is Padbury, Buckinghamshire, UK. 1830s. They were in West Ashford too. I have got myself chasing my tail, metaphorically speaking,and lost the trees for the forest - so to speak. I want to find Martha's maiden name is she a Marriot? When did she marry Salmons? Mary Salmons any relation? Tracey Marriot? Andrew Marriott?
If any-one is on facebook, her name is Trish Graham and she lives in New Zealand

Sally Ann Marriott Salmons' mother was an unmarried Ms Salmons
so Marriott is almost undoubtedly her father's surname

this was a very common way of identifying the father of a child of unmarried parents

she married in 1855

Dianne what you posted in your first post here is copied from google search page results, which doesn't help much - they are just excerpts from a webpage, with no connection to each other

Take a look there and you can see that the name Salmon has no connection with the name Marriott on that page

your friend appears to have done a google search for a list of given names and surnames, and they all coincidentally appear in that thread, that is all

the Victoria who posted that info is not researching any of those people, she was simply passing on info about certificates that others have obtained that they do not want

If you'd like to turn this into a research thread, we'd be happy to help.

Ask your friend to tell you all she knows & what records she's found. We could try to take it from there.

She could also join GR as a free member and upload her tree. That way if anyone else is researching the same family they can make contact. Free members can't initiate messages, but they can reply to them.

Have you/she tried different spellings? Unless a person was literate, different officials could have written their own version.

Mary Ann Marriott is the actual person being researched. A search of all on GR brings up no result, neither does anything by Rebekah. My friend is related to the Mary Ann who married someone named Salmons.
I think she is clutching at straws, but any lead needs to be checked out.
It is highly unlikely the Reuben is one of hers as Mary Ann would probably been too old.
