No, I think that photos and members own records are still not free. I have been searching for free, though I have been a member in the past and have a sign in, and some records are unavailable.

I imagine if it' s a photo it's attached to a tree, I don't think those are included in "records"

I never have to provide credit card details - that's probably just as well, as I don't have one.

It is quite usual for free offers such as that, to require user details, often including credit card data.

The idea behind these free offers is to get people to join, and some do, otherwise there would be no point to them.

I am trying to get on to Ancestry as I know there is a public photo to be seen. The problem is I can't get any further as it requires me to register my details. Surely if it is free I shouldn't need to give details unless I want to join which I shall do when my GR runs out.
