Carpet Weavers of Kidderminster

I'm reading a lovely novel called 'The Weavers Dream 'by Donna Baker

Its set in 1800s Kidderminster and the lives the poor weavers had to endure

What I found interesting was at one time Carpet manufacturers and the weavers lived side by side in the same area Later the Manufacturers started paying low wages and they lived in better houses The poor weavers could barely feed themselves and their children had to work long hours along side them to make ends meet

Its a great book and the events mentioned are historical

Thank you, I'll look out for that.

I think Donna Baker wrote a few of these type of books, didn't she?

I'm busy tracking my Herefordshire-born folk and I know some went to Kidderminster, so the book will give a hint at what life might have been like for them.
