William Rush

ProfilePosted byOptionsPost Date

Albert Report 3 Jan 2014 17:08

William Rush born about 1771-?10 possibly near foxhall Suffolk,
He married Amy Jordan b1771 in Bucklesham St mary Suffolk 26 Dec 1791 Shown in Parish records 1758-1854 the records also show William was a widower prior to his marriage.
William could have been born to a number of Rush familes in the area but none show a marriage and death of a wife before 1791 for a William.
The above is a major directional point in my tree.
I am the last son in the line from Williams son Samuel and the ist in the line without Samuel in my name.
Please can any one help or have an opinion, AWE Rush my father was Walter Samuel Rush.

Message from Albert (rather contradicting his OP)

The 1771 date is the confirmed date of birth of Amy Jordan his wife, every one assumes William will be about the same age of Amy ie 20 years old in 1791 when they married that is the reason for giving him the "about 1771"date of birth, but every one has ignored or do not know that William was a (w) widower ie had married before, so unless he was 14 when he first married he could not possibly be 20 years old the same age as Amy his 2nd wife.
So I am looking for a William who is around 10 years older, 1761 give or take+- A William who has married before who's wife has died and been buried.and is a widower.

I don't really know why he thinks he would have to be 14 at the time of his first marriage...

WOW Thanks for all your help & opinions.
I started my family search around yr 2002.
Most was found on the Latterday Saints site, I was amazed with what I found, I was totally absorbed with it all.

There were far off cousins I found & closer ones I have yet to find but then having found William Rush and the 1791 wedding William W and Amy Jordan the date is solid and there I have stopped.

My Family tree is about 200 souls lots of side shoots I found on the way but I can not Move on, other Rush trees I have looked at do not take into account William being a widower before his marriage to Amy Jordan.

Ann thanks for the for the information re parish registers now available, I obtained a Microfiche reader some time back and have 13 microfiche plus three Transcriptions.

In addition to going through the above again with new eyes, I shall make a new list of other parishes to search, I have a feeling William came from further a field.

My criteria will be William Rush marriages between 1784 - 1790 and young women having having died in the same year range, this will take into account Beverley's belief you could turn around a death and remarry within a year.

I have read all your posts and will put the information to good use.

Opinions criticisms ideas very welcome.

Thank you all again.
Albert.
