Maybe old news, apologies if it is.

England and Wales Death Indexes to 2007 now on Ancestry. Maybe on other websites as well.

On GR and Find my past I have seen the odd death for 2007 in the past, same as there are some births for 2007 but not all

There are few Jan quarter (1st quarter) 2007 listed in a random search, but no images past 1983. As no family member is known to have died in that year, its rather difficult to say if all the 2007 ones have been entered.

But hey! Something is better than nothing! :-)

I tried a surname search for deaths in 2007 and got 5 results for 2005.

I then tried 2006 as I know of a definite one and for that year got the same previous results plus a few from 2004......... so a bit hit-and-miss at the moment I guess.

In 2005, there were over half a million entries.
Ancestry has 17623 for 2006 and 87 for 2007 (all in Jan 2007).

As DetEcTive notes, they stopped publishing a printed index in 1983, and it's all computer generated thereafter.

I notice ALL the BMD Indexes on Ancestry are marked as FREE, is that a limited period thing ?

ElizabethK - Haven't spotted an announcement on the home page saying that it is for a limited time, but then I could have missed it if it were there!

It's on the .com.au home page - also free are the 1911 censuses, probate calendar, and UK outward bound.

The featured British collections will be free until 11.59pm Monday 10th June 2013 AWST.

I don't suppose it would mention anything that is free if you already have a world wide subscription?
