Best free family tree software?

I'd like to download a free family tree programme, partly to see how useful it would be and also for my parents to have a copy of what I'm doing, at he moment it would need to be a free version and I'm getting confused as to which would be the best

Legacy seems to have good reviews but would the free version be good enough?
Others I've seen are, Gramps and myheritage

any advice would be appreciated

An ex-member was very happy with Legacy. It would be interesting to see what other users of free software think.

As you only want a free program .......download them all and have a look at what they offer.

If you don't like what you see, you can easily uninstall

I had looked at FTM but that seems to have a lot of problems and all I need is a way of keeping my onfo safe

I use Family Tree Builder, the free version. It suits me fine, and you can do nice printouts from it too.
