DNA apart, the father provides the family surname, but the mother is the one who actually gives birth - quite an important contribution isn't it?

Welcome too the boards Michael. I hope you continue to post here.

I certainly agree that the female line is more reliable as far as genealogy goes.

Is the original poster perhaps getting confused with mitochondrial DNA, which is totally derived from the mother?

Apparently all native born Europeans are descended from just one of seven women in the past , known as 'the seven daughters of Eve'.

Obviously there were far more women who lived in the past, but only these women's lines survived to this day, other lines either died out or ended with sons. (a man inherits his mother's mitochondrial DNA, but his children will have the DNA of his partner and her maternal line, back through the ages.

If you go back far enough, we all share one common female ancestor, known as mitochondrial Eve. Through the course of history mutation occurs, leading to her 'daughter' lines.

Without checking I seem to recollect there were something like 30-40 ancestral mothers for the whole world's population.

That information has been around prior to 2012 though.

Michael

Common sense dictates that what you are declaring as fact is actually impossible.

You really should not be so gullible................

The other post has been added to a lookup request......I hope the poor soul asking for help doesn't take any notice of this gibberish.

Was this the same group of scientists that proved the universe was created 6000 years ago?

If the OP's theory is true then why aren't girls clones of their mothers and where do boy's come from?

Here, here mgnv :-D

Let's be kind to Michael John - he only joined GR this month, and has 2 posts to his name. It would be interesting to hear how he came upon this opinion.

Absolute rubbish.

To cite one instance, the sex of the child is determined by the father's contribution.

It is said that the 'true' blood line is through the mother....if she was honest about who the father was! ;-)

EDIT - care to give a source and/or link to your statement? Previous wisdom has it that the male and female both contribute 50% of their genes. Then to throw into the equations are the dominant and recessive genes which each parent may carry.

since 2012 its been proved by scientists, that women are the only ones who give the genetic code onto her children.so u better start looking for your mums mum and her mum and soo on too find your true heritage.
