my g.g granmother was Bridget McShane. she married my g.g granfather (John Byrne) in 1893. She was 24 when they got married and i have found that her father was called Thomas McShane. i can not find any record of Thomas, or any record of his wife. Any assistance greatly appreciated.

Have you tried looking for him on 1901/1911 census? If you have details of his occupation from her marriage record this can be used in the search.

Mark...Where did the couple marry....?

I would be checking the Glencolumbkille area for McShane /Byrne.

Hello All,

and thank you for helping.

in terms of my Byrne/McShane side of the family i have the 1901 census record that has my g.granfather (Thomas, aged 4) with parents John and Bridget. i also have their marriage record (09/05/1893) which gives Bridget's father as Thomas McShane, John's father as John Byrne, and witness' John McShane and Patrick Byrne.

at that point i hit a dead end!
